A Hit and run accident caused the death of a Morehouse Medical student on Georgia’s I-75 earlier today. Witnesses say the 27-year-old decedent from Fort Lauderdale, Florida was headed north on I-75 near Ga. 92 when the driver of a red or orange mustang cut her off and forced her into oncoming traffic.

Parkes’ Honda Civic crossed the median and ran into the southbound lane where it was struck first by a sport-utility vehicle, then a boom truck and then a tractor-trailer, said Georgia State Patrol spokesman Larry Schnall.

The decedents’ Honda Civic upon crossing the center line was struck by three oncoming vehicles which ultimately severed the vehicle in two separate parts. The decedent was rushed to Cobb County Hospital but later succumbed to her injuries from the accident. According to authorities, the Georgia State Patrol is still trying to locate the hit and run driver and expect charges to be filed once located.

Parkes’ was scheduled to graduate from Morehouse on Saturday along with 64 other med students. Now she will never have that opportunity because of the reckless and careless actions of another. If and when located, this hit and run driver is sure to face serious consequences in both the criminal and civil context.
