In a tragic Georgia auto accident, a Liberty County man was killed after the driver of the vehicle he was riding in mistakenly turned in front of an on coming Georgia State Patrol trooper on U.S 84 in Midway, Georgia. John R. McGrath, 66, of Midway was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the collision. The at fault driver of the vehicle and another passenger suffered only minor injuries even though she was directly struck on the driver’s side of her Honda Accord.

Lewis said Simmons was attempting to make a left turn into the westbound lane on U.S. 84 from Cross Creek Drive.
McGrath apparently was unable to brake in time to avoid the collision, striking the Honda on the driver’s side.
