Doctor Randy Martin of Channel 2 news recently gave some great advice on the effects of salmonella and more importantly, how to avoid contracting it. With the recent peanut butter recall, salmonella has been in the headlines quite often recently and people should be aware of its initial stages and warning signs. As with most all food borne illnesses, salmonella poisoning often causes severe vomiting, fever and diarrhea. The good news is that it can usually be successfully treated with antibiotics. Knowing more about salmonella can make you or a family member less likely to contract it. For anyone who has ever had salmonella, I am sure they can tell you that it is far from a pleasant experience.
