Del Valle, husband of the now deceased Milena Del Valle, filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Suffolk Superior Court in Boston Tuesday after his wife suffered fatal injuries in a “Big Dig” accident. Mr. Valle was driving his wife to Logan airport when all of a sudden the multi-ton ceiling panel of a construction project fell on their vehicle killing his wife. The suit alleges negligence on the part of the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority and several contractors involved for installing unsafe and defective bolts. The suit also alleges they used cheap and defective concrete in the massive construction project.
According to CNN.com:
“Big Dig” is the nickname for the Central Artery/Tunnel project, which reroutes the once-elevated Interstate 93 beneath the city. The project connects the Ted Williams Tunnel, a freeway to Logan Airport and a major bridge over the Charles River.
“What happened to Milena Del Valle should never have occurred,” the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority said in a statement released Wednesday. “We are open to discussing this matter with the family and their attorneys.”
