Over the last few years there have been seemingly well justified concerns into the role of the Food and Drug Administration and the decisions its ultimately makes on any given medication before allowing dispersement to patients all over the United States. A recent survey published on July 20, 2006 by the Union of Concerned Scientists shows the depth of political influence and interference that has become all but common in many of the FDA’s decisions. The survey included findings from over 5,918 anonymous FDA scientists and the information disclosed therein is staggering to say the least. I encourage you to take a good look at this article and see how little the FDA as a whole is doing to protect the rights and well being of all U.S. citizens. Let’s all hope this call to action will be yet another step toward the FDA starting to do the right thing of putting people first again.
