Tragic Accident Involving A Student, A Bus And Another Driver

In a tragic pedestrian accident, a 16 year old boy was killed the other day as he was getting onto a school bus.  The Northwest Whitfield High School student was struck by a vehicle driven by Juan Teran. At this time no Charges have been filed against Teran but a through investigation is still pending. Authorities say the boy was talking to the bus driver about getting onto the bus when the accident occurred. It is not clear whether the bus driver utilized the stop sign devise to warn oncoming drivers of potential passengers who are entering and/or exiting the bus. Georgia state law requires the sign  devise to be utilized in order to help prevent tragic accidents just like this.

In the event that the bus driver did not follow this Georgia state law, he and the school board he works for could be held liable for the boy’s death along with the driver of the other vehicle.
