Initially the contaminated pet food recall focused on wet food that consisted of “cuts and gravy” produced by Menu Foods, Inc. Now the recall has been extended to a least one brand of dry dog and cat food called Prescription Diet m/d Feline dry food.  That food, along with those manufactured and put into the stream of commerce by Menu Foods allegedly contains melamine, a product used in Asia as fertilizer and chemical compounds in various forms of plastics.  The recent recall initiated by Hills Pet Nutrition, is the only one to date that consists of a dry pet food compound. As the investigation continues into the depths of how far this contaminated pet food recall reaches, pet owners are encouraged to use extreme caution in which foods they choose to feed their pets.
