Multiple Party Accident Leaves Four Dead In New Jersey

On Tuesday, four people were killed and four others were seriously injured after a truck slammed into numerous vehicles on the New Jersey Turnpike. The driver of the truck lost control after striking the first vehicle then overturned and went over a guardrail killing two people in a vehicle below.  Criminal charges of vehicular homicide are forthcoming against the driver who caused this unfortunate accident.

In situations like this where multiple people have suffered injuries in an accident there is usually not enough insurance to cover all parties adequately. As such filing a claim for wrongful death or personal injury early on in the process can play a deciding factor in who will receive compensation for their injuries because most all insurance policies have a set limit it will pay regardless of how many people are involved. Some jurisdictions take the first to file a claim has priority while other jurisdictions may be apportioned in equity by a judge or some other official. In situations like these special precautions must be taken to protect those left behind who have lost a loved one due to another’s negligence.
