A grandmother who was kidnapped and raped while leaving the Lindbergh MARTA station in Buckhead in June of 2002 got some great news Wednesday afternoon in the form of a $1.7 million verdict. The Fulton County State Court jury, made up of 6 men and 6 women, only had to determine the damages portion of the case after the Judge Craig Schwall held Marta and its representatives in default for destroying crucial evidence and reports. The Judge in commenting on MARTA’s actions stated: “I will tell you it’s brazen, intentional, deceitful act on the part of MARTA.” An appeal in expected to be filed on behalf of MARTA.
