In a second alcohol related accident in the Columbus, Georgia area, a pedestrian was struck and killed by another driver as he was trying to cross the road. Jack L. Whitten, 54, of Columbus, was struck and killed by a vehicle traveling on Veterans Parkway near 14th Street according to the authorities. Whitten, whose blood alcohol content was said to be .361, died shortly after the accident at The Medical Center in Columbus. The woman driver of the vehicle that stuck Whitten has not been charged with any violations at this time.
