Before you go out and buy a new Ford motor Co. Super Duty pickup truck you need to be aware of a recent recall on the trucks concerning a fire hazard in their tailpipes. The voluntary recall by Ford motor Co. includes some 37,400 trucks in the F-Series built by Navistar International Corporation. According to Ford spokesman Dan Jarvis, over 8,000 of the trucks effected have already been sold to the consuming public while the other 29,000 remain at various dealerships throughout the United States. You are encouraged to take your vehicle into a Ford dealership immediately to solve this potentially dangerous and defective condition.

About three-quarters of Super Duty trucks — also known as the F-250, F-350 and F-450 models — are equipped with Navistar- produced diesel engines. Warrenville, Illinois-based Navistar is Ford’s sole supplier of diesels for the Super Duty.

“This is not going to be a costly fix,” Jarvis said, declining to provide a figure. Unsold trucks will get a computer software update, and owners of the recalled vehicles will be asked to bring them to dealerships for the work, to be paid for by Ford, Jarvis said.
