Current Financial Crisis–Investors as Victims of Security Fraud?

Comments Off

With the latest financial crisis and DOW continuously dropping in the past week, investors must take action. If you invest in stocks, bonds, options, limited partnerships, mutual funds, commodities, etc. (all considered securities) YOU should go over your account statements from the brokerage firm to review the trading activity in your account as recommended by the following homepage.

Often times, an investor will not know if they have been defrauded until they seek advice or help from a professional.

If you notice any of the following, you may have been defrauded:

  • Trading in securities and strategies You do not and cannot understand
  • Inconsistency between what the broker said verbally to You and the performance of the investments
  • Loss of funds or value in the account that You cannot understand and the broker cannot reasonably explain
  • Repeated promises made by the broker to You to make up for losses though various devices
  • Misrepresentations by the broker, or important information about an investment which the broker did not disclose the risk to You
  • Trades that You did not authorize
  • Trading in low value securities or obscure companies on foreign exchanges or private investments
  • Failure of the broker or someone who supervises the broker to respond to Your complaints
  • Trading in high risk

If you have experienced any of the above, you may have been defrauded. You must take immediate action to protect yourself. For more information on securities fraud, check out this homepage FAQ section.

If you think you may have a claim, you may want to contact the attorneys at Childers, Buck, and Schlueter to see how they can help protect your legal rights.

Federal and state laws do provide a legal remedy for those investors who have been defrauded. In some cases, investors may be awarded compensation for the loss of income their investments should have been generating. Because of the current financial status of our country, security fraud may become more prevalent. If you are an investor, you should make sure you are not a victim of securities fraud.
