NHTSA Crackdown on DRUNK Drivers

Comments Off

A new study released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) shows that drivers between the ages of 21-24 are involved in more alcohol-impaired fatal crashes in comparison to any other age group.

NHTSA research shows that in the years between 2002 and 2006, close to four fatalities out of 10 involved alcohol-impaired crashed in the LAST two weeks of December.

David Kelly, NHTSA Acting Administrator, said, “Drunk driving is one of the most serious, and preventable, dangers we face on our roadways. Sadly, the death toll from drunk-driving crashes is higher between Christmas and New Year’s than any other time.”

Kelly explained that law enforcement officers give up their holiday time with their families to PROTECT all of US from drunk drivers. To see the statistical report which provides the state-by-state holiday drink driving fatalities & age groups, check out NHTSA’s website here.

Please remember to be safe this holiday season. If you are going to celebrate, remember to not drink and drive or bring along a designated sober driver.

The roads will definitely be congested as everyone travels around the US to see and be with family and friends. The safety of you and other drivers around you is important, so make sure you drive safe!

Also, in an increasing text message society, don’t text message when driving, as my mom always tell me because taking your eyes and concentration off the road can lead to an accident.
