A Georgia woman was recently struck by a hit and run driver on Ulmerton Road as she and a friend tried to cross the roadway. Elonda Floyd, 41, and Lisa King, 46, were both taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg after being struck by the driver for their injuries. As a result of the accident, Floyd lost her leg and suffered other serious injuries. King was treated and subsequently released the same night. Shortly after the pedestrian accident, authorities identified and arrested a 20-year old man, Edmar Cassiano, in connection with the hit and run accident. Among other charges, Cassiano has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident which is a felony in this situation.
